We have a great team of employees serving our clients in Dallas, Fort Worth, Mid-Cities, Arlington, Plano and surrounding areas. Many employees have been with McSweeney since the company’s inception.
Employee training and safety is a way of life at McSweeney Commercial Painting. Our team is constantly learning about the latest paint technologies and application techniques. Employees are trained with current OSHA requirements, including the OSHA 10 hour class for foremen, CPR and first aid, ladder safety, safe scaffold practices, and aerial and scissor lift certification. Monthly in-house safety trainings and weekly safety meetings are held for all employees.
John McSweeney has spent his entire professional life doing one thing: painting. He has worked as a painter, drywall finisher, foreman, project manager, estimator, general manager and, for more than 30 years, Owner/President of McSweeney Commercial Painting. He has built the company on long standing relationships with employees, customers and venders but prefers to call them friends.
John enjoys most things that end in ing: hunting, fishing, horseback riding, walking, working, but he did give up golfing (stupid game). Most weekends you can find him ranching in East Texas on a 226 acre cattle ranch he has owned since 2014. John hopes to expand the ranch and retire sometime in the future.
VP & Project Manager
Duane Tippit has worked in the Drywall and Painting industries for 42 years. He has had companies in Kansas City, MO and New York City. Since arriving in Texas 34 years ago he has worked with John McSweeney in both McSweeney Commercial Painting Inc. and, prior to that, G&G Painting and Decorating. Duane has served in every aspect of performance and management. He has helped John McSweeney build McSweeney Commercial Painting into the company that it is today with the help of an awesome team of Superintendents, Forman, Project Managers, and Administrators.
Duane loves spending time with his family, which includes six adult children, two adopted toddlers, six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie Durham has only been involved with liquid coatings in his career, starting as a driver at ICI Paints and working himself into an outside sales rep in the commercial and industrial coatings market with Devoe Coating and Glidden Professional. He went to work with McSweeney Commercial Painting during the summer of 2013 taking over the project management duties. He takes pride in pleasing his customers on each project with a pleasant approach, dealing with scheduling conflicts, damages, and working one on one with General Contractors or Owners Management teams to provide them with the best service possible and a great finished product.
Charlie enjoys spending time with his family. He has a loving wife, Lindsey, and three beautiful daughters: Kennedy, 17, Landrie, 11, and Gentry, 10. He also coaches softball throughout the metroplex, is a terrible fisherman and the loudest hunter that is known to man.
Robert Julian Vasquez has been in the commercial painting business since 2015. He started as a superintendent and has dedicated his time to learning the skills of a great leader and listener who also provides phenomenal customer service. With these skills, Robert has risen to the position of project manager where he dedicates his time to details, budgets and scheduling. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with family and watch football, boxing and MMA. His hobbies include working around the house, fishing and thinking about work 24/7 to be sure nothing is missed.
Steve Garrison has been in the commercial paint industry his entire life, from working on jobs as a young teenager for his father’s company to working in the field for McSweeney Commercial Painting as a young man out of high school. He also had a 6 year run at Sherwin Williams as a manager and commercial sales representative. He has been estimating for McSweeney since August of 2000, with a focus on consistent and accurate estimates for customers that have also become great friends through the years.
Steve loves spending time with his wife and love of his life of 32 years, Carrie, and his two children, Taylor, 27, and Shelby, 22. He also enjoys health and fitness, and maintains an active life style from hiking with his loyal German Shepard, Emma, and Border Collie, Max, and playing cornhole with family and friends.
Taylor Garrison has been in the painting industry since high school when he started working part-time for Sherwin-Williams in Hurst, TX. From there he went to work at Tuttle Lumber in San Marcos, TX, working as their paint specialist while studying business management at Texas State University. Upon graduation he went into management for Sherwin-Williams working in the DFW and Austin areas for five years. He started work for McSweeney Commercial Painting in October 2020. He spends his time learning from John McSweeney, Steve Garrison and our project managers in the field to build lasting relationships with our customers and provide accurate numbers for future commercial jobs.
Taylor loves to spend his time with his wife Jasmin watching comedy specials, trying new restaurants, and taking care of their Cocker Spaniel, Scarlett. Taylor is a certified personal trainer and avid golfer spending much of his free time working out and pretending he is in the 1980’s classic Caddyshack.
Becky is our bookkeeper and primary contact for accounts payable and payroll.
Jaymi is an administrative assistant and primary contact for accounts receivable, pay applications and purchase orders.
Gracie is an administrative assistant for our project managers and the primary contact for change orders, contacts and new hires.
